A topknot with a French themed floral tiara?
Why not?
If you're brave enough to go grey, you're brave enough to do it with panache.
I'm not afraid of anyone or anything any more, so why wouldn't I wear a Carmen Miranda-esque tiara to do my grocery shopping?
Mind you, I paired it with one of my rare dresses...a cute little black swing shaped number...pearl earrings, and pink jelly sandals. No fruit anywhere else!
Top knot achieved by hitching a high ponytail, winding loosely anti clockwise, and pinning casually. A few stray hairs are fine. Hairspray pointless here in the heat and humidity too!
Oversized black sunnies, vivid pink lipstick, and a minimalist wallet were the only other accessories.
I had a fun day. People smiled at me, two little girls told me I looked beautiful, and the checkout lady wanted to know where I'd got my glam hair accessory.
Don't be shy. Wear something fun tomorrow. You're dead a long time ;-)
Tiara a Christmas gift, purchased, so I'm told, from Kitten D'Amour.
Ha ha, Mimi, I thought you had fruit in your hair and wondered how you had pinned it on. LOL!
ReplyDeleteAway to go Mimi. Why worry be happy. I'm sure you looked fab.
ReplyDeleteI hope you held a pineapple in one hand and a did a little shimmer with your shoulders. You're a classic Mimi and get big loving smile from me.
ReplyDeleteIt's Janiebabe from SS. I'll be looking at your blog regularly so I can keep in touch with you.

ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post!
ReplyDeleteI'm still deciding whether to go gray or keep coloring my hair. I have no idea what color it is now.
Thanks for sharing at SYC.
So elegantly done Mimi and I sure you wore it with great pride

How awesome! Especially the compliment of two little girls telling you you looked beautiful - and no doubt about it! Love your verve, Mimi!
ReplyDeleteWish you had pictured the whole look. It sounds divine.
ReplyDeleteSuch a timely post. I am currently letting mine go grey, just not coloring anymore. It's a little scary cause I don't know if it will look nice or not. But I have a friend in my hairdresser so know she'll help it look good.
ReplyDeleteLoved Your post!

"I yi yi yi like it very much......"!! I am smiling from ear to ear, with this fun post, Mimi.As a gal with 'white blonde' hair, I might just dive into my fruit bowl, whip out the hot glue gun and see what I come up with. =)
ReplyDeleteYou are the best, Mimi! I love your style, spunk, and personality. Thanks for encouraging us to be free and daring {{smiles}} You are a GEM!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing with Roses of Inspiration. Hugs to you!
How fun! I'm a former substitute teacher and my high school students kept asking me who did the highlights in my hair. It took me a second until I realized they thought my naturally graying hair was salon applied and paid for highlights. I quickly answered "Josh did them". Some of my students know my grown sons and got a good giggle out of me telling them that all the stress my son Josh caused me (this is my gung ho, adrenaline junkie, military security forces son) led to those "highlights". ;)
ReplyDeleteI love this! The fruit is seriously awesome. I would wear that, and I'm not even 40 ;). It would be a blast. Thanks for sharing your creativity!
ReplyDeleteI went gray over a year ago and I feel so free!! Best thing I ever did!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Deb
As we'd say here, "You go, Girl!"
ReplyDeleteI call my grey grandma highlights ( wink) and I love my bits of grey. Fun post. Thank you for sharing at the Thursday Favorite Things blog hop. Watch for your feature tomorrow xo
ReplyDeleteI love it! Love your beautiful gray hair too!
ReplyDeleteOh, so cute! Love it! My hair is FINALLY getting some more gray in it. My brother has been asking for years how come he had so much gray and I had so little, lol! He even asked if I colored my hair (I don't). Guess it's finally catching up with me. ;) Thanks for linking up to Making Your Home Sing Monday!
ReplyDeleteLove it !!! There is nothing to be ashamed of with grey hair, I call them my platinum highlights :)
ReplyDeleteMy hair isn't long enough to do that and I never wear it up anyway but your do looks really cute! I'm sure you looked very chic. Thanks for sharing, Mimi.
ReplyDeleteHi lovely friend! I wanted to let you know that this beautiful post was featured at Roses of Inspiration today. Thanks for sharing! Hugs to you!
ReplyDeleteLove this! Especially the fruit and the little Eiffel Tower. And I love your attitude about this. I love a crazy brand called Desigual and wear all their bright designs. My sister says I look like I fell in my wardrobe most days, but I don't care. I love a few mismatched bright colours. Like you say, you're only here once!

That is so cute. I love my grey hair but it's not long enough for a topknot. Life is too short not to have fun!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun way to jazz up your hair Mimi. I love your creative and fun style.

I don't think I've visited before, but I'm so glad this is the one that coaxed me in! I have had the chemo-look for the past 7 months, and my hair is just starting to come in. I've been coloring my hair since high school and for most of the time, it has been some shade of red.....my coloring seems to pull that off pretty well! My new "virgin" hair is almost black with some silver to it....only 1/8 inch long, so it's kind of hard to tell what's going to happen. I hope I'm happy with whatever color it is and not have to do the coloring anymore....maybe I should say "brave enough!" We shall see. It sounds like you carried off "panache" very well!
ReplyDeleteNeat idea!
