I left my heart in....
Hello everyone!
I haven't posted during my trip, as I am a believer in keeping long absences from the home front, a well kept secret. So please accept my apologies if you've noticed that things were a little quiet here!
You may recall from my post earlier in the year, that we had a three week trip planned which included a 12 day Mediterranean cruise. Well, trip done and dusted, happy memories created, thousands of photographs taken, souvenirs procured and laying in wait for distribution, and here I am.
I've missed you all, but made a solemn promise to myself to stay disconnected during the trip, lest the urge to post detract from our enjoyment of sights, sounds, and delectable goodies around us!
I have many stories and pics to share, if you can stand it, and will have a long post tomorrow.
Meanwhile, enjoy this snap of the view sailing out of Istanbul...an unexpected highlight of the trip.
Istanbul was not somewhere we had planned to visit, nor did we expect to be particularly enamoured with it. We were delighted to find it both exotic and beautiful, boasting a skyline to rival any in the world. The people (men....they were almost exclusively men) were polite and helpful, and the Spice Market was a delight to the senses. It was certainly not difficult to imagine harems, hookahs (water pipes), and heavenly spices around every corner.
I'll be sharing more of beautiful Istanbul in the coming weeks.
For now, I am glad to be home.
...Mimi...
Mimi, good to have you back. I have missed your blog posts and thought you must be overseas although I must admit I thought you were going to Paris. Glad you had a great time. I hope you aren't freezing where you live ;-)
ReplyDeleteThankyou Nanna, I am pleased to be home, although I would have cheerfully done the trip all over again from day one...lol! No Paris this time, but so many other beautiful places to see, that I couldn't feel sad. Mimi xxx

I hope it was a true break and did you all the world of good plus wonderful experiences and memories! xxx
Hi Annabel! It was the first holiday we've taken where I didn't have to lift a finger except to wave for someone to bring food or drink...lol! It truly was lovely, and yes I am full of inspiration on every possible level. It's funny how quickly we settle back in to 'real life' though. One thing is for sure....we can't wait to go again! Mimi xxx

Hi Tania! I am glad to be back. A sabbatical is good and rests the brain and the imagination, so that you come back fresh and full of enthusiasm. And that I am! Mimi xxx
DeleteWow Mimi it sounds like you had a fabulous vacation and I love that photo!

Mimi, thanks for stopping by my Mad Tea. It's nice to meet you. Your trip sounds fabulous. We spent several weeks in Turkey some years ago, and Istanbul was a wonderful city. So many beautiful memories from our trip there. I look forward to seeing your photos.

ReplyDeleteMy first trip to Europe was a high school graduation trip. When our ship came into the Port of Istanbul the sun was just rising over the this mosque. It was an incredible sight. It looked like a place where fairytales were made. Looking forward to the rest of your pictures! Thanks for sharing.
