A Very Aussie Christmas....

I had an epiphany this Christmas friends.

Here we all are in the Southern Hemisphere, sweltering in 40C+ heat, and trying to have a European Northern Hemisphere Christmas.

No more.

This year, we leaned towards the light and the fresh for festive fare.

We wrapped simply, and embellished with glitter.

We celebrated with home made and earthy.

Cute Kitty Cat towels were stitched.

And packaged prettily.

Friends sent offerings. Nice.

And decorations were kept rustic.

The faux bocce` lawn came up a treat.

And whilst Sugar might now be considered evil, we had some anyway.

Bath treats were dispensed to one and all...even the littlies.

Accessories were key. Of course.

Miles of gingerbread was rolled and baked on Christmas morning.

And the Christmas cake was chocolate, ginger and cinnamon...not fruit.

Cherry turnovers made their debut as a new favourite.

And family all pitched in with their own yummies.

After which, all we needed was a fruit cleanse.

And a beach getaway.

I hope your Christmas was merry too!

Happy New Year!

...Mimi...

  7. Mimi we kept is very simple this year. It was a seafood, mango, melon and grapes brekkie with our daughter and her boyfriend. When they left we wandered down to the beach with the fur baby for a swim. The rest of the day was spent quietly. Food was grazing along.
Presents were mostly handmad, made to requests and of a practical nature. We had no little people this year so it was a simple gift exchange not the manic gift tearing process with all the magic thrown in.
Hope 2019 brings only good things for you and the family.

  9. Dear Mimi,
First of all, I need those cat towels. Second, I love the display of heartfelt and handmade gifts! They are the best kind, I think. And lastly, I really love the message to embrace where you are. We can surely all dream, but we need to see the beauty around us as it is, too. Thank you for all of your lovely posts. I'm looking forward to following along in the new year!
    Love, Kelsey

  10. Creative as ever. It all looked gorgeous especially that cake!! We nearly always have a cold Christmas dinner as it is nearly always a hot day and did so this year. It was great as we had a 4 month old baby to goo and gaa over. He is my sister's first grandchild and a little cutie. My beach holiday is coming up next week, can't wait as we are sweltering here at the moment. Hope you have a great 2019. Janiebabe x

  11. With you on the cold Christmas lunch Mimi - we do too. Didn’t get down the beach this year though as my Dad doesn’t walk so far now - takes me 7 minutes walk from home to be on the beach - we are very blessed.
We do still enjoy a “proper” Christmas dinner but do it with friends in July - thank goodness for freezers as I can get all the specials now!!
Enjoy your blog Mimi though I rarely comment anywhere!
