Weeping, Musicals and Sukiyaki...

Yes I'm in recovery mode.

Recovery from stalkers, funerals, year 10 exams-by-proxy, and bad food.

Today I've watched The Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall (on telly), eaten healthfully, rested copiously, and wept freely.

Tonight I will eat Sukiyaki.

Tomorrow I will be my usual self.

I love Phantom. I've seen it twice in London, twice in my home town and dozens of times on DVD. I never tire of it. Angel of Music, and Music of the Night bring me to tears. Every. Single. Time.

Do you love musicals?

Which ones are your favourites?

Do they make you cry at their emotion, or laugh at their irony?

Do you like the ones that portray real life? Or Fantasy?

Do tell.

...Mimi...

  1. I love Phantom.
    Never seen Les Mis.
Recently saw the musical "once" - if it comes to your hood, you should see it as you will definitely cry.
I love the musicals Hairspray and Jesus Christ Superstar and Chicago.

  2. I love the Phantom too. The music is so powerful. We hold subscription tickets for the main big theater here in Toronto so I've seen so many musicals. Phantom, Les Mis and Wicked have to be my favourite.

  3. Mimi I hope this week is better! And I hope you haven't had any more trouble with the nutter.
I know you would have had a terribly sad funeral to go to.
I think a quiet week is in order. Some pampering too. xxx

  4. Yes, I love musicals, Mimi! I've seen Phantom and loved it, Chicago is a favorite too. It's hard to pick just one or two. My girls have both been in several, well-done local productions with our light opera guild, and it's always fun to go.

  5. i Mimi;
I am glad your on your way to recovery! Stalkers, exams, funerals and bad food are not good for anyone! Rest and recuperate and enjoy the rest of the week end! I have seen phantom of the opera, but I daresay The Sound of Music is my all time favorite! Hugs, Nana

  6. My all time favourite is the Phantom CD's playing full pelt but alas they are in storage so I have to wait. We saw the original Phantom in Melbourne many years ago then went and saw the new one when we lived down there. Have you seen the black and white version that has been on TV from time to time?

Funerals are always hard, especially when the person involved had many years ahead of them - destiny and life forces are hard to equate sometimes.

Hope that you have a peaceful week and do not have to worry about any 'fruit loops'.

  7. I love musicals! I've watched Phantom on DVD but never in person. It came to my city last year, but alas I was unable to go. However, I've seen two Broadway productions in person...Million Dollar Quartet and Mary Poppins. Concerning local talent, I've seen A Christmas Carol, Annie, Little Women, Beauty and the Beast. On DVD, I've seen The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, The Harvey Girls, and more that I just can't remember! I don't think I can choose a favorite. Each production had wonderful charm and was able to sweep me away from Upstate NY and draw me in to their world. And oh how I cry. I embarrass my daughters sometimes because I. Cry. At. Everything. lol And I equally enjoy true-to-life productions as well as fantastical fantasy productions. Musicals are the best. :)
